How to block an Ip address in Zonealarm
Wandering aimlessly around grc.techtalk, I heard The Mask mention:

"Firewall", Zones", "Add", "IP Address", "Blocked Zone"

That's from memory, so it may not be exact, but it should be pretty
close... 🙂

Actually, I didn't think it was possible to block an IP address using the
"hosts" file. AIUI, hosts only works with "Fully Qualified Domain Names"
(FQDNs), because hosts is checked prior to DNS lookups (under normal
conditions). A hosts entry points to an IP address, thus overriding the need
for a DNS search. But if an IP address is used instead of an FQDN, a DNS
query is not necessary, and hosts will not be consulted in the lookup.
